Pain is a common and persistent symptom of cancer and sometimes induced by its treatment. It is a multidimensional and complex experience having physical, social, spiritual and psychological aspects. In India, approximately 60%–80% of currently diagnosed cancer patients are identified when the disease is in its advanced stage and 70%–80% of these patients experience pain. Use of Bhanga (Cannabis) for the management of pain has been well documented in Ayurveda classics.
