Pathogenesis and Changing Management Philosophies in Diabetic Neuropathy

Diabetic neuropathy, a common complication of diabetes mellitus, is characterized by damage to the peripheral nerves. The pathogenesis of this condition is complex, involving metabolic abnormalities, oxidative stress, inflammation, and microvascular changes. Over time, there has been an improved understanding of the underlying mechanisms, leading to evolving management philosophies for diabetic neuropathy. This abstract highlights the changing approaches in the management of diabetic neuropathy, focusing on targeting the underlying pathogenesis.
